Happy Day

I realised that I have not been spending quality time with ashlynn. Everyday I am rushing like a mad woman to finish the household chores and the pumping every three hours is really draining. By the time I finish feeding ashlynn or washing her clothes, it is like almost time to milk myself again. However, because I am returning to work next Monday, I decided to stretch my pumping interval to four hours. Phew, with the longer time interval, I find that I can accomplish more things and yet have time left to spend with ashlynn. She smiled alot alot to me today. Everytime I leave the room to do something and when I come back, she is sure to flash me her widest grin. I can sense that ashlynn feels her mummy is more focused on her. In a way, she can feel more love from mummy. Even when I was giving her the evening bath, she did not cry and scream like previous days. In fact, she kept on looking at me with the most innocent and sparkling eyes which I can hardly resist. I am going to miss her alot when I go back to work. Up to now, I am still figuring out the best arrangement with granny on taking care of ashlynn. I don't want to miss any part of her growing up process, for I know kids grow and change everyday.

Visit to Ah Ma's House

We spent our Sunday afternoon at ah ma's house. Had lunch, played with ashlynn, mummy pumped milk, ashlynn slept for a short while, ashlynn drank milk, took photos of ashlynn and daddy went out to view a bike. Yes, daddy wants to buy a bike despite objection from mummy. Daddy, don't forget the condition you have to fufil before you get the bike.

Ah ma asked mummy why ashlynn is red red all over. Her neck, skin behind her knees, elbows are red and painful looking. Mummy just collect the California Baby calming bodywash on sunday. Going to let her try it to see if there's improvement in her skin. Otherwise, we will have to wait till her next vaccination day to consult the PD.

Ashlynn's head is much stronger now. She can keep it raised for quite long. And she is learning to flip over. She managed to do it a few times over the weekend.

Haha, that's not ashlynn's brother. Ah ma is looking after this boy boy.

It was a sad day for mummy as daddy was going for his reservist on monday. He will not be home until dunno when... It's only ashlynn and mummy alone at home. Mummy really misses daddy already. Was kinda upset when daddy told mummy that he was looking forward to go for this reservist.

Addition to Ashlynn's Wardrobe

Went shopping on Friday before Jeslyn yiyi's birthday to get new work clothes. Daddy happen to end early so he joined me at bugis. We went to Fox Baby and got some new clothes for ashlynn. In just 15 min, we spent close to $100! Although we have told ourselves not to buy anymore clothes for ashlynn, but we simply can't resist the lovely clothes. Anyway, there was a promotion going on and we got a $20 voucher. This means more spending the next time we go to FOX.

By the way, daddy ah, do you know that more $ was spent on ashlynn's clothes than mummy's clothes that day.

Jeslyn Yiyi's Birthday

We brought ashlynn along for mummy's good friend Jeslyn's yiyi 2#th birthday celebration at Paragon Spaggedies on Friday. Carrin and Jeslyn yiyi took turns to carry ashlynn. And Gabriel seems so fascinated with ashlynn. He was very cute. He giggled when ashlynn was given the pacifier. Both ashlynn and gabriel kept on looking at each other. Very cute sight. The couples proceeded to watch the Forbidden Kingdom after dinner but we could not join in with ashlynn around. Anyway, mummy found that the show sucks as daddy and mummy watched it the day before.

Look, Ashlynn is finally interested in the parrot. This is the first time ashlynn look at it since it was there one month ago. And she is eating her hands again... It seems like her left hand is more delicious as she never eats her right hand.

Haha.. Look at the things mummy eats to increase her milk supply.

The bottle of fenugreek is huge. 200 capsules and it's still cheaper than the Singapore packaging (100 caps). Good buy!

Suntec City

We went to Suntec City yesterday and spent a good 6 hours there. Mummy was desperately shopping for new work clothes. Sigh... To think that I used to be a S size. Now gotta buy size L! Daddy and ashlynn were patient in waiting for fussy mummy try her clothes. Went to Fox and bought a set of socks for ashlynn. Now that she is no longer wearing mittens, mummy is obssessed with buying socks for her.

Dinner was at Kenny Rogers. We managed to finish our chicken before she started to fuss a bit. Despite the long hours outside, she only took 1 feed of FM. Daddy managed to find a nursing room and ashlynn had her other meal there.

Our final destination was Carrefour. Wow... It was super crowded and there was offer going for Gain IQ, diapers etc. We saw an ang moh family with like 20 tins of Gain IQ in their shopping trolley! Mummy bought three super comfy bras and we bought 2 huge boxes of Pampers Active for ashlynn. Nothing for daddy though. He wanted to buy the Samsung DVD HD recorder but was scolded by mummy. Coz he spect a few hundred dollars to rent a bike. Told him to save money now that we have ashlynn. I also told him that I made a big sacrifice by not using my bonus to buy a new LV bag. But it seems like he didn't get the point.

At ToysRus, daddy is trying to see which toys ashlynn likes. He says that as long as she smiles and shows some reaction, he will buy for her.

Ashlynn wants to be a Supermodel

Her milk intake seems to be below average. According to the formula used to estimate baby's milk consumption, ashlynn should be drinking about 750ml. But this is what i have recorded the past 2 days:

16 Apr
10am - 80ml
12.50pm - 105ml
4pm - 105ml
6.45pm - 70ml
10.15pm - 100ml
3.30am - 100ml
6.45am - 80ml

Total: 640ml

17 Apr
9.50am - 110ml
1pm - 110ml
4pm - 100ml

Total: 700ml

Apparently, she is not drinking enough. And mummy can feel that her weight gain is not as substantial as that in her first month.

Yet to enter 18 Apr's consumption as she was camping overnight at granny's place.

Mummy has to visit the Chinese physician as there is this excruciating pain in my wrist for almost a week. I can't twist my hand in a particular direction and this makes carrying ashlynn a challenge. The physician was powerful!

Physician: Have you carried any heavy things:

Mummy: Erm... No. (Not that I can remember)

Physician was in deep thoughts and touch and looked at my hand again.

Physician: You have a baby?

Bingo!!

Physician: How old?

Mummy: 2 months

Diagnosis was that I carried ashlynn until my vein was out of place. Was given a painful twist by the physician and was given a wrist guard to wear when carrying ashlynn. Mummy thought it looks so ridiculous. Was given some oral medication but mummy had to inform this young chap at the reception table that I am breastfeeding. Kinda embarrasing as I had to say: " 我在喂人奶". That chinese guy (an apprentice) apparently was stunned by my question but came back to inform me that he will not issue the medicine. Was given some ointment to apply instead. That silly daddy still can joke that I look sporty.

Oh yes, and latest update on ashlynn's looks. As her cradle cap was back, mummy tried massaging the flakes out with Johnson's baby oil. I end up massaging out her hair as well. I told ashlynn's granny that ashlynn dropped a million strands of hair. She is almost bald in the centre now.

New Socks for Ashlynn!

The socks I ordered online arrived yesterday! That was really fast and efficient of Kidzcottage. Found them to be slightly big for ashlynn although it was stated 0-9m. We were preparing ashlynn to go out for dinner so I snapped a few photos of ashlynn with her new socks. By the way, ashlynn looks like a boi boi now because of her balding head.

I took a few pictures of the milk which I have stored in the chiller and the freezer. Compared to other mummies, I may not have alot. But stock is definitely increasing. I feel more motivated to pump as I see the number of milkbags in the freezer increasing. Hope darling ashlynn will not reject frozen EBM.

Ashlynn's Daddy

Brought Ashlynn to Robinsons on Sunday to shop around. We bought a Bumbo seat for her. Decided on the purple one because daddy said that the pink one can be easily dirtied. It will not be long before ashlynn can start seating on it.
Dinner was at Ichiban Boshi - Daddy's favourite. Daddy was very sweet. Offered to feed ashlynn while mummy eats my dinner. Anyway, it was because his food have not arrived.

Ashlynn's appetite has not been good these days. She cannot finish her bottle of milk. And when she latches on mummy's breast, she drinks for the most 10min and drifts off to sleep. Mummy is super worried that ashlynn doen't get the nutrients she needs to grow tall and chubby. Hence, a major decision is made. A decision that saddens mummy. Ashlynn is going on total bottle-feed from now on. And most likely mummy will give ashlynn formula milk at the 3am feed. This is because it takes time for expressed breastmilk to warm up and mummy doesn't want hungry ashlynn to be screaming in the wee hours. Formula milk is quicker to prepare. Anyway, ashlynn will be on formula milk at night when she starts staying with granny once mummy starts work.

Breastfeeding really can make one go mad and obsessed. Mummy must really learn to let go sometimes...

This is how much ashlynn has grown over the weeks. The PD says that her weight is now at the 75th percentile. Mummy feels happy to hear that. She was below the 50th percentile when she was in mummy's tummy. She is slowly catching up with her fellow friends of her age :)

These few days she seems to be learning things very fast. She can lift her head and stay there for quite some time. she starts to discover the existence of her hands. Daddy and mummy look forward to see the changes in ashlynn everyday.

Ashlynn's New Friends!

This morning, I placed ashlynn into her cot as she fell asleep after her feed. I proceeded to do some housework. When I went back to take a look at her, I found her awake and to my pleasant surprise, she was "playing" with the soft toys around her and the soft toys on her musical mobile. She was looing at them and smiling non-stop. I managed to take a video down. But the file is too big to be uploaded hear.

Let ashlynn try out her play gym today. Initially I think the floor was hard and she felt uncomfortable, she started protesting. When mummy tried to put her down the second time with a pillow support, she enjoyed herself. You can see from the pictures that she is all smiley :).

Ashlynn in Baby Carrier

We bought a Chicco carrier few weeks back using the Robinsons voucher given by friends. Finally got a chance to use it when we brought ashlynn to the John Little sale at Expo. We were initially quite worried that ashlynn will not like it. But she was alright. Managed to sleep while we shopped around. Another fruitless trip... Proceeded on to NTUC for our weekly grocery shopping trip which daddy and mummy always look forward to.

Shopping Again

Brought ashlynn to Metro Paragon coz according to daddy, there is an infant sale there. End up empty handed as there was nothing to buy. Had dinner at Fish and Co. Ashlynn didn't cooperate with us this time. Ashlynn was cranky at dinner so mummy decided to carry her and eat at the same time. It was almost her milk time and mummy was actually feeling stressed.

After dinner, we went to hunt for a nursing room, but was occupied. Anyway, ashlynn has not started demanding for milk so we shopped around first. We decided to go to the nursing room at the 3rd floor. It was again occupied. This time, ashlynn starting crying. Luckily the mother was done, so we went in. Very happy to be able to nurse her outside. She didn't get to drink her Similac. Keke... Really hate it when ashlynn has to end up drinking FM. As much as mummy can, I will feed her with breastmilk.

After the fruitless trip at Paragon, we popped by Taka nursery department. Bought a bottle of Gaia powder for ashlynn. It is supposed to be non-talc. And can help to absorb moisture from the folds in her body which have started to look reddish and raw these few days. Mummy bought a nursing shawl. Hope it is useful. This is how it looks like. Daddy said look like ah ma.
Before we headed home, daddy suggested we go for a drink. We settled down at Starbucks in Paragon. Ashlynn decided to cooperate by taking a nap. Moreover, there was nice music coming from the surrounding that soothe her to sleep.
