Welcome to the World Ashlynn!!

The story below will tell u how daddy and mummy brought you to the world on 15 Feb 2008.

3.50am: Mummy felt painful contraction. Wake daddy up. Went to take a shower. Make the bed. Cleared the room abit. Ask daddy want to bring the donuts we bought the night before to the hospital. Daddy say no need. In case false alarm then we can come home to eat.

4.30am: On the way to TMC. Told daddy to drive slower coz the ride was bumpy. Made mummy's contraction felt worse. Contractions were 5min apart.

4.45am: Reached TMC. Mummy was brought to the observation ward and daddy went to do the admission. Was hooked on the ctg and waited and waited.

5+am: Felt the urge to poo. Rang the e-bell. Nurse checked and found mummy to be fully dilated! No time for enema or epidural. Was sent to the labour ward. The laughing gas was a great saviour. Daddy said mummy's eyes turned all white whenever I inhaled the gas.

6+am: Dr Wong came. Ready to push. The first few pushes was unsuccessful because silly mummy pushed at her face and not baby Ashlynn out. After a few attempts, baby Ashlynn was out at 0642! Daddy and mummy cried a bit. Ashlynn looked so adorable although she was still bloody.

Happy Valentine's Day

This year's valentine's day is a simple affair for mummy and daddy. But mummy is very touched when daddy came home with a bouquet of flowers. Went to Sakae Sushi for dinner coz we want to lo hei. Yusheng is daddy and mummy's favourite. After our lovely dinner, we went to shop around Suntec City. Bought some clothes for Ashlynn from Fox. Before we went home, mummy asked daddy to put up Ashlynn's infant car seat. Back at home, while putting away Ashlynn's clothes, we told Ashlynn to come out quickly so that she can wear her pretty clothes.

Checkup at 39 Weeks

Went for my routine checkup. Daddy and I was hoping to hear from Dr Wong that Ashlynn is all ready to come out and I can be admitted to the hospital tonight. But it turned out that I am only 2 cm dilated, from the 0.5 cm during the checkup. Dr says that Ashlynn is taking her own sweet time and she may end up coming out full term, which is next wed. All this while we thought she will be one to two weeks early. I guess mummy and daddy really can't wait to see our precious.

Ashlynn has gained 200 g and is now 2.8 kg. Still considered a small - average baby. Mummy has gained 1 kg (over 10 days) from the CNY bingeing. Daddy lah, keep making mummy eat and eat non stop.

Today is also the start of mummy's ML. Mummy is going to be a full-time housewife! Mummy went to Carrefour and got daddy his valentine's day gift - a portable DVD player. I really don't see why he needs one but since he wants it, just buy.

Mummy also went for a haircut before Ashlynn is born. This time, my hair is really the shortest as compared in the past 10 years. I wonder how long it will take to grow long hair again... Will post some pics if I have the chance.

Gathering on Day 3 of CNY

Met up with Auntie Wendi, Sophia, Carrin and their hubbies for a reunion lunch at Pete's Place at Grand Hyatt. Jeslyn was not able to come as has to work.

Daddy and mummy took some pics while waiting for the rest. It's a nice and cosy place with pretty good ambience. But the food variety is quite limited.



After lunch, all the aunties and uncles dropped by at our place. They are quite amazed to see the amount of things daddy and mummy have bought for you. Auntie Carrin say that Ashlynn will not be able to fit into the pair of cute pink Carter shoes. We will have to wait till you are born then we see you can wear. Daddy and mummy saw a few pairs of shoes at FOX but dare not buy coz we are not sure if you can wear after hearing from Auntie Carrin.

Reunion Dinner with Daddy's Parents

Very glad that daddy only needed to work half day on CNY's eve. After picking daddy up from his office, we went to kallang for a reunion lunch at MacDonalds. Went to get our car washed. $8 for a sloppy job done. Reached home and get some laundry done. After that, we ironed our new clothes for CNY. By then it was time to go grandparents' house for dinner.

At this rate mummy is eating, I am bound to put on lots of weight.

Reunion Dinner with Mummy's Parents

Went for early reunion dinner with grandparents at the tze char stall under their block today. The food is so so only. I guess it will be long before I will get to eat all these food again. Next round of feasting will be on CNY eve.

Ashlynn at 37 Weeks 4 Days

Went to checkup and found that Ashlynn's weight didn't increase much. Now she is 2.65kg. Dr Wong say mummy can binge during CNY so that maybe Ashlynn's weight can pick up. Dr also found mummyto be slightly dilated, about 0.5cm. So Ashlynn will probably arrive one to two weeks before her due date. And that can mean next week! Dr ask mummy to walk around more to induce labour. But mummy is hesitant as little Ashlynn is still small. Dr say nevermind, come out can still feed. Anyway, she scheduled the next checkup to be on the 11th Feb, the start of mummy's ML. Meanwhile, mummy is to update a chart of Ashlynn's movements. She needs to move about 10 times a day. If it falls way below 10, got to get admitted the hospital immediately.

Bought a fisher price bouncer at takashimaya today. Usual price was $139 but we got it at $69.
