Daddy's On Leave - 01 & 02 Sep '08

I am very happy that we managed to spend a lot of quality time together over the weekend plus monday and tuesday. We were supposed to go to the Singapore Flyer on monday but decided that we will wait till ashlynn is older. We had a change of plan and decided to go bowling instead. It has been ages since daddy bowled. hmm... so he lost to mummy! haha...

Mummy won!!

We went to John Little Expo sale after that. Wanted to get this cap for her, but it's too big and daddy said it's too boyish. We ended up buying a swimsuit and a pair of shoes for her.

Baby Jumper Gym - 31 Aug '08

Met up with a few other feb'08 mummies (kitsune, lezy and goodbb) to bring our little ones to attend the Baby Jumper Gym trial class. Ashlynn, daddy and myself enjoyed ourselves very much. Even daddy, who were quite skeptical about attending the class in the first place felt that it was quite interesting.

We started with some introduction from the instructor in the classroom. Ashlynn was shown flashcards. Initially she was distracted, but after she got the hang of it, she was able to look at the flashcards. Ashlynn was trained to pick up a tiny toy car and her eye movement to follow the path taken by the toy car. They were given rattles to shake and dance to the song sang by the instructor. The rattles ended up in the babies' mouth most of the time instead. It was really a hilarious sight. Ashlynn was also trained on photographic memory whereby the intructor showed one picture card, then presented two cards (which were different like in photohunt). Ashlynn was supposed to pick the correct card. Instructor said the first card which the baby looked at is their answer. I supposed all our babies got the correct card. Near to the end of the lesson, we proceeded to the gym room where the babies got to do some "work out". The babies were swung about. Hmm.. I doubt I'll do that at home.

Before the lesson, I was still worried that ashlynn will get cranky as she did not sleep much before the class. Lucky she seemed to enjoy herself throughout the lesson. However, at one point she started crying as she accidently slipped and fell. It'a all mummy's fault cause I didn't grab hold of her tight enough when she got excited playing with the stacking rings. Two observations made: Ashlynn is the smalleset in size (though not the youngest) and she is the darkest! haha... All the babies were in pink, so pretty :)

Anyway, enjoy the photos. A picture worth a thousand words.

We took some pics at the bowling alley before the class started.

Ashlynn was engrossed and engaged in the flashcard activity.

Ashlynn playing with the bells before it ended up in her mouth.

Time for a pose!

Waiting for her turn. Listening to instructions at the gym room.

The babies given a massage. The babies were Ruth, Ashlynn, Shixuan and RaeAnne (from front to back).

Ashlynn was trained to "crawl".

Refusing to Drink Milk - 31 Aug '08

I dunno what's wrong wif ashlynn but she has started to reject milk again. We usually give her 180ml (that was the volume she was drinking a few weeks back). These days, she is like a preset timer. She will struggle when she hits the 120ml marking. we will try to pacify and make her drink. then second time is at the 80ml marking. I wonder how she knows when to stop. Daddy is better in making her drink. I always fail to get her to drink and I will lose my temper. Yesterday I tried scolding her, hitting her little palm. But still no use. Daddy will try to engage in weird positions to make her drink.

Look at the pics.

Ashlynn wif her retro hat at Crystal Jade. Yes, it's the one knitted by granny. She started slipping down her baby seat so we took her out after awhile. She is bitting on to something all day long. But no signs of teeth yet.
I put on a hairclip for her and daddy laughed non-stop. Ashlynn not knowing that she is being mocked at, joined in the laughter. Silly baby...

1 Week Break - 30 Aug '08

It's the start of the Sep hols. Looking forward to spend a fruitful one week with ashlynn. so far we have plans as follows:
Sat 30 Aug - Vivocity shop shop
Sun 31 Aug - BJG, visit to ah ma's house and collect stuff from BP.
Mon 01 Sep - Hep B vaccination at Tampines Polyclinic and Singapore Flyer!

Though looking forward to the break. But it is not exactly a break after all. I have got 3 piles of Add Maths Prelim papers to mark, exam sitting arrangement to plan, invigilation schedule to relook at, SEM, E-learning day and most important - my little princess to look after. Feel kinda stress that I can't complete my work. Lucky granny say I can bring ashlynn over so that I can do some work.

Seems like ashlynn is not drinking well again. I hope this will pass soon.

Made pea puree for ashlynn today. She took it well with her cereal and was able to finish most of it :)

Sweet Potato Affair - 24 Aug '08

It has been raining on and off since friday. We brought ashlynn out for breakfast at Ah Mei Cafe at East Point followed by grocery shopping. Happened to see some sweet potatoes and decided to make sweet potato puree for ashlynn today.

It was a total disaster making the puree. Firstly, it took me 40 min in all to steam the sweet potatoes until I found it soft enough. Secondly, I didn't manage collect any juice from the steaming process. All I had was the water vapour. Thirdly, after blending the sweet potato, it became a huge lump of plasticine looking lump which I could fling about and bounce. Not wanting to waste my effort, I added some hot water to soften it and mixed it with the rice cereal to feed ashlynn. Lucky she ate it without much complaint.

Think I will never make sweet potato again as later on, granny and ah ma told us that sweet potato will cause air in ashlynn's little tum tum.

I kept thinking I bought Japanese sweet potatoes. Daddy told me he saw that it was Vietnamese sweet potatoes on the packaging. How blur can I get.

Looks horrible right? This is how it looks like after adding water.

Saturday - 23 Aug 2008

Ashlynn is due for her 3rd Hep B vaccination today. We brought her to Tampines Polyclinic and were waiting for our turn when the nurse came forward to inform up that she can't take her jab today!! Reason is because her last 5-in-1 jab was less than a month away. I was quite mad as I remembered asking Dr Keoy can or not. He said no problem. What a wasted trip. After that we went to Parkway Parade for lunch and stock up on a couple of electrical appliances from Best Denki. We bought a steamer, a handheld vacuum cleaner, a shaver and mini slow cooker. We only paid $25 in all as daddy had a $300 voucher from a lucky draw.

In the evening, we met up with our usual clique to celebrate Carrin yiyi's birthday. We had our dinner at Jack's Place at Great World City. There, we realised that ashlynn was able to sit in the baby seat and she was actually quite steady in it.
