Home Alone - 16 Aug '08

Daddy was away for reservist, leaving ashlynn and I alone at home. How I spent the day - did some simple housework, feed her, make puree, play with her, do my school work while keeping a watch on her, eat, snack, watch tv. I realised that alot could be done if we stayed at home instead of going out.


Ashlynn had pumpkin puree during her snacktime.



Taking care of a baby is really not easy. When ashlynn was younger, she needed to be carried all the time. She had lots of skin problems which made us heart pain. And she also had drinking problems which got us worried. Now she is older, she is always out to do dangerous stunts and we have to keep contant watchout for her.

Look at what she did last night. I was pumping at the table and she was sleeping. Somehow the phone rang and woke her up. She starting flipping continuously in all directions and ended up on the floor between the mattress and the table. I couldn't save her as I was halfway through pumping, so I decided to let her learn a "lesson". Yet she happily laid there banging the leg of the table and even attempted to flip onto her tummy with the space constraint. Later on, when I was done then I put her back onto the mattress. I left the room to keep the milk. Within minutes I heard a "bang" sound and realised that she has flipped again and I guess she hit herself against the leg of the table. She cried and I guess she knew it was her fault. She stopped crying immediately after I picked her up. Really, babies at this age needs constant attention.

When will daddy come back :(

Quiet Ashlynn 12 Aug '08

Ashlynn doesn't really like to talk. She is very quiet most of the time. I wonder if it's normal.

She has her first taste of pumpkin today prepared by granny. Granny said she will prepare it for her everyday. Erm... no need to be everyday right? Can include some variety of foods mah...

Ashlynn's solids diary:
22 July: 1 teaspoon Heinz rice cereal + 30ml BM/FM

03 Aug: 2 teaspoon Heinz rice cereal + 30 ml BM/FM plus one spoonful of Gerber pear puree mixed into her rice cereal. She likes it!

06 Aug: 2 teaspoon Heinz rice cereal + 30 ml BM/FM plus 2-3 spoonfuls of Gerber banana puree mixed into her rice cereal. She likes it!

09 Aug: 2 teaspoon Heinz rice cereal + 30 ml BM/FM plus 2-3 spoonfuls of homemade apple puree mixed into her rice cereal. She likes it!

10 Aug: 3 level teaspoon Heinz rice cereal + 30 ml BM/FM plus 2-3 spoonfuls of mashed avocado mixed into her rice cereal. She doesn't seem to enjoy it that much.

I guess the the avocado might not be ripe enough. And i should have pureed it. Coz it seemed to chunky for ashlynn to take. Later in the afternoon, bits of avocado came out when she regurgitated her milk out. I will hold back avocado for awhile.

Today, I intend to prepare a few servings of apple puree and freeze it so that granny can use it in the next few days.

Happy National Day Singapore - 08 'Aug 2008

Really had lots of fun with ashlynn and daddy this weekend. We didn't do anything special in particular, maybe I know I am having a long weekend ahead (monday is a school holiday), I can enjoy myself without feeling too stressed up. There is still a pile of work to clear, but who cares, family is my top priority now. We went down to takashimaya baby fair on sat. We spent a lot just at the fair itself. Finally we bought a car seat for ashlynn. It was a maxi cosi - Toby model priced at $438. The original price was $600+. We also bought other stuff like potty, 4 for $10 clothes, crawler toy, food storage containers and wet wipes. We went for dinner at Sushi Tei and walked around for awhile. Fed ashlynn then back to the baby fair for a second round before we returned home.

On Sun, we did housework, went to east point for lunch and did our grocery shopping then went over to granny's place for awhile to pick up something. We took a nap. It has been ages since I took a nap with ashlynn around! Thank you daddy for helping out so that I can rest. Initially we planned to go to centrpoint for the robinsons sale and also to the mothercare outlet to collect ashlynn's nestle goodie bag. But because it was quite late already, we decided to go parkway parade. Mummy bought a book - First Foods. It's on weaning and intoducing solids. Daddy bought a pair of pants from G2000.

On monday, daddy has to go for reservist. again!! so mummy won't be bringing ashlynn home at night for the week. sob...

Over the Weekend 02 Aug - 03 Aug '08

Sat

We brought ashlynn to POSB to open an account for her expenses and savings. We din put the account under her name as we wanted more flexibility over the transfer of funds in this account.

Mummy had school activity so daddy brought ashlynn to Weirong uncle and Meiping yiyi house to play. After that we went to the NATAS fair but is was super duper crowded. We decided to come back early morning on Sunday to avoid the crowd. Went to ikea tampines and bought 2 packets of bibs for ashlynn.

Went home early to put ashlynn to bed. She had a long day outside and didn't sleep much.

Sun

Went to NATAS fair in the morning. When we reached there at 11am, it was already very crowded. We bought our admission tickets and went for breakfast. Walked around and decided that we will travel to hong kong at the end of the year. Without ashlynn. kinda bad of us. But she is still too young. We left without booking as we wanted to think about it. Went to ah ma's house for lunch. Then went to Autobacs to buy air filter. Went for early dinner at East point and to buy Similac for ashlynn. Went home to bathe and feed ashlynn, then we went back to NATAS fair again. Finally settled for the ASA free and easy package. $893. So ex! Anyway, will be looking forward to this 4D3N trip with daddy.

This lazy mummy has not explored and read up more about introducing more variety of solids to ashlynn. will do so soon and update in the blog.
